(en anglais)

The first of a series of public talks: "Climate Change, Ethics, and Policy" at the Institute for Values in Science.

Michael Loreau (Department of Biology, McGill University) will offer the first of several public talks to be hosted at Simon Fraser's Harbour Centre campus on the ethics of climate change and its social and scientific implications. Dr Loreau will offer the perspective of a biologist who has spent years researching the relationships between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, has published prolifically in the field of ecology, and taught at several universities in Belgium and France before coming to McGill.

The Institute for Values in Science (ViPS) seeks to foster conversations between academics and non-academics, specialists and laypersons, about the social and environmental impact of recent developments in science. For further information on ViPS, visit the Facebook page or the website: http://www.sfu.ca/~vips/index.html

The speaker series is free and open to the public.

Abstracts forthcoming.
