In recognition of the 150th anniversary of the Nova Scotian Institute of Science, established in 1862, the Royal Nova Scotia Historical Society (and co-sponsors) is presenting a public lecture by Dr. Suzanne Zeller, noted historian of Canadian Science. All members of the public are invited to attend.

Abstract: The 150th anniversary of the Nova Scotian Institute of Science offers an opportunity to consider its timely foundation, subsequent achievements, and remarkable longevity. Its history illuminates an interplay between responsiveness to broader cultural trends and persistent dedication to the importance of modernity in a particular place.
