Canadian Science Writers' Association conference June 9-13, 2011

The annual Canadian Science Writers' Association conference will be held in Calgary, Alberta, on June 9-13, 2011.

Don't be misled by the name, no one is just a writer anymore, but writing is at the heart of all of our stories, events, web sites and Tweets!

This conference looks to have some very strong sessions and speakers:

·     Small-group workshops led by some of North America's best on: social media; communicating research through pictures; creating a podcast; writing for kids; personalizing the impersonal; connecting scientific ideas with the public; why numbers matter.

·     Keynote address by John Hofmeister, former CEO of Shell Oil in the US, Founder and CEO of Citizens for Affordable Energy and author of Why We Hate the Oil Companies

·     Special presentation by Jay Ingram and The Mutations (band members all have a link to science in their day jobs: a biology professor, emergency physician, engineer, drafter and computer programmer)

·     Luncheon keynote by Dr. Joe Schwarcz (The Dr. Joe Show, Science To Go)
