Cultivating Women, Cultivating Science: Flora’s Daughters and Botany in English 1760 to 1860(Baltimore: Johns Hopkins UP 1996); Figuring It Out: Science, Gender, and Visual Culture, co-edited with Bernard Lightman (Hanover, N.H.: Dartmouth College Press, 2006). She prepared an edi tion of Priscilla Wakefield's late 18th - century book of popular science, Mental Improvement, or the Beauties and Wonders of Nature and Art (1995), and edited a special issue of the journal Woman's Writing: Elizabethan to Victorian Period on "Women and Sc ience" (1995).
